Loyality
I was thinking today of what to write about and I wanted to write about something that is positive and I hope will help someone along the way. We as martial artist find that a lot of what we are in our school or dojo carries over to our personnel lives. We share some of the same qualities in our dojo that we share with our family and friends. What I am talking about is loyalty. We have this with our families; it is a bond that is without boundaries and a love for one another that is never questioned no matter what happens to us in our lives. We can count on each other to be there no matter what the struggle is. As for me my love for my family can be explained in a simple phrase, I would trade my life without question to save them no matter of the cost. This is a very strong feeling for me and would never be in question and I have this feeling for my school and the organization that I am proud to be part of.
Now I am sure some of you are thinking that is much easier said than done and that I am just not living in the real world or something to that effect. Over the years I have seen a lot of people come and go in their journeys not sure of what path or paths they need to take. I have seen those that are not really here to learn but to just fight or think they want to fight. So many come to a school just not really wanting to make the effort to become better but want it to be given to them or just pay and say they are. I have found those that are never happy and want to take and never give anything back and when they feel they have taken all they can they leave. I have also seen those that think they are better than everyone else when in reality they are just a person like you and me. I have seen those that want to let you think they are a friend and in the end try and take the very thing you love from you no matter how much it hurts you or others. I have seen those that complain of what they do and watching others train not understanding the reason but not caring because they think you don’t understand what your doing. I could go on and on with reasons, but in truth they really mean nothing because they have no loyalty in or out of a school.
There will always be good and bad times no matter where you are. You have them in your personnel life and they will be there in your martial arts life. Being in martial arts is having a second family that needs the support of each other. Working together towards that common goal that we all seek. Loyalty is one of the key ingredients to being successful as a martial artist and in your school. I think loyalty is one of the things that needs to be worked on in our martial arts schools because we are losing some of the things that are important and we need to find them again. Now I have said this in general because not everyone is like this and you will know if you are or not and that is not for me to judge but for you to live with. If your not happy with your training let it be because of the right reasons not because of what is being said or done around you because of the lack of loyalty. If your teachers have respect that he or she would have for their love ones then loyalty will follow if they don’t then you need to rethink what you are doing there in the first place. You cannot earn respect with out having respect for yourself first and for most. It is just that simple. Now I understand that some of you after reading this will not agree with what I have had to say and I want you to know that it is okay for you think this and it is okay for you to disagree with me because I do have loyalty and respect not only for me but my school and love ones and I know we can work through anything together. Train hard and safe and my you be blessed with good health and all the things in life that you need. (nuh-wah-doe-he-yaw-duh guh-gay-you-ee)
